What is The Lonely Parent's Club?
The Lonely Parents Club is a friendly group run for parents who have children of all ages; who may feel isolated, lonely or who may simply be struggling a bit with parenthood. The group provides a non-judgmental, welcoming space where we can meet new friends, share experience and offer support. con
The group has been set up by Chloe, a mum of three, who has felt the ups and downs of parenting and juggling what life throws her way. Having struggled with anxiety and PND, as well as the everyday isolation that being a parent can often bring, she wanted to create a group that was welcoming and safe for those who have felt similarly, and who may find it difficult to get to those sometimes overwhelming parent and child groups.
Where does the group happen?
We currently run a weekly group, 10:30am every Wednesday at Abergavenny Community Centre. We also have some one off events happening too, so do keep an eye on our Facebook page for details.
If you would like to set up a group in your area please do get in touch. It would be fantastic to expand the group to help lonely parents in as many areas as is needed!
We are also in the process of setting up some online resources for whoever may need it, as well as sharing stories from parents who have felt lonely on their parenting journey.
How can I get involved?
If you would like to get involved there are a few ways you can:-
- Set up a group in your local area
- Share your experience with us by writing a blog post or answering some interview style questions
- Come along to our group! If you are local to Abergavenny, we'd love to have you along
- Spread the word! Share our blog posts, talk about loneliness with your friends, help raise awareness!
If you would like to get involved in any of the ways above or have any other ideas, get in touch using the contact form below.
